In-Situ Hybridization
Custom DNA and RNA hybridization assays for biomarker discovery, gene expression mapping, and spatial analysis
Custom DNA and RNA hybridization assays for biomarker discovery, gene expression mapping, and spatial analysis
Lanterne Dx offers both fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH) services for identifying specific DNA or RNA sequences within cells or tissues. We work collaboratively with you to develop the most appropriate assay for your biomarker of interest—supporting custom probe design, multiplex target incorporation, and comprehensive data analysis within a single assay.
In situ hybridization (ISH) enables the precise localization of nucleic acid targets within fixed tissue samples while preserving cellular morphology. This allows researchers to study molecular signatures in the context of native tissue architecture, connecting genomic and transcriptomic data with histopathological insight.
Our FISH assays use fluorescently labeled probes to detect and quantify nucleic acid sequences within individual cells or tissue sections. This powerful method enables visualization of genomic alterations with high sensitivity and spatial precision, supporting discovery and validation of biomarkers in oncology and genetic research.
FISH applications and services:
Copy Number Variation (CNV) Analysis – detection of deletions and amplifications
Chromosomal Translocation Detection – identification of gene rearrangements in cancer and other disorders
Extra-chromosomal DNA (ecDNA) Localization – visualization of circular DNA elements linked to tumor evolution
Custom Probe Design & Validation – for novel or proprietary DNA targets
Quantitative Image Analysis – for signal counting, target quantification, and spatial distribution assessment
CISH uses chromogen-labeled probes to visualize nucleic acid targets, allowing permanent staining that can be viewed under a standard brightfield microscope. This method is particularly suited for profiling gene expression signatures at cellular and single-cell resolution, revealing spatial relationships within tissues and enabling direct comparison with immunohistochemistry (IHC) or H&E staining.
CISH applications and services:
Gene Expression Profiling – detection of specific mRNA transcripts in situ
Spatial & Single-Cell Resolution Studies – mapping expression patterns across tissue architecture
RNA Biomarker Validation – supporting discovery, development, and translational research
Co-localization with IHC or H&E – integrating molecular and histological data in a single section
Customized Assay Development – tailored solutions for unique RNA targets or multi-gene panels
